Alien Head / Body

Face

Above is a high poly model of an alien head, i made a cube in Mud-box and sculpted on into more of a oval shape, I then increased the polygon count on the model which made it look a lot more detailed, this meant that seeing what i was adding was a lot clearer as well as it looking better. To make The eyes, mouth and other indents on the head I used sculpting tool this was the easiest way to create the detail i wanted, it also allowed me to put on the force I desired, this meant that I could make the indents as deep as i liked. By holding control and clicking around the shape it allowed me to invert the sculpt tool, this meant I could make detail come out of the model which you can see on the cheeks of the face and around the head. As well as the sculpt tool to push in and out detail, i used pinch and grab, this means you can move a part of the model around, this would be good to use for specific detail or if you want a certain part of your model in a certain place.

Low poly human head

This is my alien head with a low poly count. We did this in mud-box by pressing shift + D to increase the poly count. By adding the polygons to the model we were able to create and add the exact bit of detail that we wanted. After increasing the poly count and adding the details we could press page up and page down to control the amount of polygons on our model. We wanted our alien head to have a low poly count so it could be used in a video game.

This is a comparison between my high poly head and my low poly alien head. The final polygon count was 98304.

Head and body]

This is my alien head on my alien body, to colour the head I  created a colour layer and painted the whole head blue, I realized that it didn’t quite look right so I added black marks to the face to highlight the eyes and add some form of war paint for extra details. To make the alien body we were given a preset human body but were allowed to create any form of alien we wanted. To begin a brought out the chest and increased his torso size and the arm width, I did this to make the model look more threatening and make him appear to be a brute. I found inspiration for the spikes in his arms from the first Wolverine movie, I remember Dead-pool having spikes in his arms and this made me think it would look cool if my alien character had it.

Spikey guy

This is my finished Alien head and body, to colour in the body I created a paint layer and painted the whole body black. To add the red lines in I used the stencil tool, I used many different kinds until i found the one i liked the most. This was one of my favourite tasks to complete, it gave me creative freedom and allowed my imagination to run wild.
