Maurice Bernard Sendak was born on June 10, 1928 – May 8, 2012) was an American illustrator and writer of children’s book. He became wildly popular after writing the book, “where the wild things are” which was first published in 1963. He had a terrible childhood due to losing family members in the holocaust, this quickly taught him about mortality and used this as inspiration.

Sendak used his imagination to illustrate his books, he creates wild creatures that look mean at first glance, but talk to children who become accepted as one of them. He uses pale colours on the creatures to make them stick out against the night sky and the bright green tree.
I could use Sendak as inspiration with the creatures that he has created, i would want to make new invented creatures that haven’t been see before.
